Authentic Refuge in the Mountains

Yangrima Hotel & Lodge is more of a cozy homestay than a traditional hotel, with just six rooms that give it a warm, family-run feel. Managed by Bhaskar and Pemba, we provide a bridge to the serene, ancient Hyolmo culture, treating every guest as family.

Featuring two triple-bed rooms and one with an attached bathroom for added comfort, our sanctuary is built on grounded serenity. Staying here offers a rare glimpse into quiet mountain life. Because of our community’s deep Buddhist roots, the village observes a tradition of non-violence, and no animals are slaughtered locally. As a result, our kitchen serves freshly prepared homely vegetarian meals, though we are always happy to cook any meat brought by our guests from outside.

Mountain Gastronomy

Our table is a celebration of the high-altitude harvest. From buckwheat gathered in the valley to wild honey from the cliffs, every dish tells a story of the soil.

The Sacred Highlands

Melamchi Ghyang

Melamchi Ghyang—distinct from the larger Melamchi City—is a charming village tucked inside Langtang National Park along the Helambu trekking route. This settlement is home to a vibrant community of Yolmo (Hyolmo) people and holds deep spiritual importance for Tibetan Buddhists.

“Sermathang, Tarkeghyang, and Melamchi Ghyang are the largest and oldest cultural villages inhabited by the Hyolmo/Yolmo community, a culturally rich ethnic group in this area.” — Nepal Tourism Board

Historical Significance

According to local tradition and legend, Melamchi Ghyang traces its origins back to the 8th or 9th century. Centuries later, Guru Padmasambhava Rinpoche—the revered founder of Tibetan Buddhism—visited the area to meditate, around 600 years ago. Stories tell that he learned from other lamas that this land was sacred, and ever since, it has been considered a place of profound spiritual energy.

It is believed that being born here, or even simply visiting, brings good karma. Today, pilgrims and travelers alike come to the Nyinda Rengjon Meditation Cave, where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated. Many followers hold that practicing meditation in the same sacred spots enhances their spiritual journey, helping them deepen their practice and move closer to enlightenment.
